Things are moving along.
We now have a twitter account - follow us at @dppott The basic elements of the set have been decided, just have to find out where Nuit Blanche will put us! Also thinking has started around volunteer roles, outside of dog actors. We will be needing the following functions fulfilled: Regulate flow of public participants Director/stage management Take ongoing photos during event, post to flicker SPCA donation collection Also looking to secure a poker table - please contact if you have a source!! With the funding from Awesome Ottawa (thanks again!), production of the dog head has begun by Bessie Bartlett, our expert costume artist. A big shout out to my mom Bessie- without her creative sewing skills, i don't think this production would be possible!
Awesome news!
I was notified today that the Dogs Playing Poker project will receive the Awesome Ottawa July award! Yahoo! The funding will help to cover costs related to costumes, set, etc. They will announce the award in the media early next week. awesomeottawa.ca/2015/07/dogs-playing-poker-live For more information about Awesome Ottawa and all the terrific projects they fund, go to their website awesomeottawa.ca What started as a banter during a night hike is now one step closer to reality! Project Overview: "The painting series of Dogs Playing Poker is instantly familiar. In this piece, we welcome the public to enter the painting and play a hand with their fellow canines. Does the lived reality of Dogs Playing Poker live up to your expectations? Are you willing to bet it all? Will you lose yourself in the play and get pulled into the game? Careful or our Feline bodyguard will escort you out." We will rely on our amazing community of friends and family to make this a reality. If I haven't already approached you, be warned that I soon will. What are you good at? Would you like to take a shift as a dog? Or be the bodyguard cat to keep the crowd in line? Or are you better suited to design/build the set? Teach the volunteers how to play poker? Bake some bone cookies? Create a canine playlist? Everyone has a talent and we will help you shine! |
It takes a village (of canines)This project is a community affair! What we lack in talent, we make up for with enthusiasm http://nbog.ca Archives
